ESTERHAZY, Sask. – An investigation is underway at Mosaic’s K1 potash mine in southern Saskatchewan.
The company says a mechanical issue temporarily stopped work at the mine near Esterhazy on Monday.
Mosaic says a skip — a machine that takes potash to the surface — had a mechanical failure and mining operations were stopped.
The company says one worker was sent to hospital with minor injuries.
It says the mine was back up and running by Tuesday morning.
Mosaic says potash sales in the fourth quarter of 2015 will be unaffected by the incident.
Saskatchewan’s Mines Ministry investigates whenever an incident at a mine occurs.
