VICTORIA – An assault charge has been approved against an RCMP officer in British Columbia.
The B.C. Prosecution Service says the charge was sworn against Const. Geory Penner of the Comox Valley RCMP.
It says the charge stems from an alleged incident while the officer was on duty Nov. 7 in the Courtenay and Comox area of Vancouver Island.
Penner’s first court appearance has been set for May 31.
The prosecution service says it won’t release any details about the allegation while the case is before the court.
