UBC Okanagan’s Men’s rugby falls to Capilano

KELOWNA, BC –The UBC Okanagan men’s rugby team hosted the Capilano U23 team at Parkinson Recreation Centre this Saturday. The Heat were unable to clench the win, and finished with a final score of (7-17).

Striking first the home team jumped out in the first half, scoring first and eventually securing a 7-5 lead over the visiting squad. Colin Stonier, a fourth year veteran, scored all of the points for UBCO, with the early try and the long conversion from the far left.

Capilano finally got on the board late in the first half as the U23 club team scored a try late in the first half.

The visiting team pulled up their socks in the latter 40 minutes of play to snatch the game from the Heat, scoring two tries and one conversion. The home team was unable to answer and finished the second half  scoreless.

The Heat will return to host The sixth Annual Hindson Cup on October 29th. All games are likely to be once again played at the City Park Oval in Kelowna. Match games and times have yet to be determined.
