Eskimos coach Jones says he likes Edmonton, but has to keep options open

EDMONTON – Edmonton head coach Chris Jones did little to quiet the rumours that he is leaving the Eskimos after leading them to a Grey Cup title.

Jones spoke to reporters Wednesday at the Eskimos’ final media availability of the season.

Asked repeatedly to comment on reports that he is being courted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders for their vacant head coach and general manager roles, Jones made it clear he is happy in his current role. But he didn’t exactly slam the door shut on the possibility of an off-season move.

“I like it here, I like winning football games, but certainly I have to keep my options open if opportunities arise,” he said.

The Eskimos beat Ottawa 26-20 in Sunday’s Grey Cup final to win the CFL title in Jones’ second season as head coach.
