Police arrest man following argument with officers

TORONTO – Toronto police say they’ve arrested one of the men who appears in a video showing a vocal confrontation between officers and the public.

The video, shot last Friday outside a liquor store in the northwest end of the city, shows a white officer restraining a black man by kneeling on his back.

The man who shot and posted the video says the officer was using unnecessary force and arrested the man for no reason, but Toronto police say the arrest was lawful.

The video also shows various members of the public shouting at the officer, and even trying to pry him off the man being arrested.

On Wednesday, police arrested 42-year-old Andrew Burger and charged him with interfering with a peace officer.

Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook declined to provide any more details on the video.
