Penticton to make Okanagan Lake waterfront even prettier

PENTICTON – City council wants public input about making the Okanagan Lake waterfront even greener.

The city wants advice on its proposed Marina Way Lookout project which will restore habitat in the area east of the Penticton Art Gallery. More than 20 native trees and about 300 native shrubs will be planted and invasive plant species will be removed.

"This project may be much smaller in scale than other waterfront initiatives, but has the potential to provide great return for residents," deputy mayor Andrew Jakubeit said.

The space will also become a passive lookout complete with a gravel path connecting to the Okanagan Lake walkway. New benches and picnic tables will also be installed, and parking will be maintained.

The community can provide input on the proposed park which will be presented at the downtown Saturday market on Aug. 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Details on the Marina Way Lookout are available at www.penticton.ca/waterfront.
