UPDATE: Suspect arrested after downtown Kamloops bank robbery

KAMLOOPS – Kamloops RCMP have arrested a suspect in connection with a downtown bank robbery and the man is facing charges.

The Royal Bank on Victoria Street was robbed yesterday afternoon, Oct. 31. RCMP say in a release the man had a knife and fled the building on foot.

Police responded to the bank immediately but couldn't find the suspect. Around 6:00 p.m. yesterday, RCMP say they received a call from a man claiming to be the robber and that he wanted to turn himself in.

Officers attended a downtown location and the man was arrested without incident. He matches the description of the robbery suspect, RCMP say.

A charge of robbery is being recommended to Crown counsel. Police say he was previously unknown to police and is new to Kamloops.
