The Trews to perform at Penticton Vees Remembrance Day game

PENTICTON – This Remembrance Day, Canadian rockers The Trews will hit the ice at the South Okanagan Events Centre right before the Penticton Vees play host to the Vernon Vipers.

The Trews have agreed to put on a special pregame performance of their tune Highway of Heroes, according to a Vees media release. The band will also be singing their rendition of O Canada.

The song was co-written and co-produced by the Trews and fellow Canadian rocker Gordie Johnson of Big Sugar and Grady. It was inspired by the death of Captain Nicholas Goddard from the Trews' hometown Antigonish N.S.

The Highway of Heroes is a section of the MacDonald-Cartier freeway, or Highway 401, in Ontario named to honour veterans or anyone who has sacrificed for their country. 

The pregame peformance goes at 6:55 p.m., Nov. 11, at the Events Centre with puck drop at 7 p.m. The Trews will be playing a show later in the evening at the Mule on Martin in Penticton.
