Two Kelowna residents killed in Quesnel car crash

QUESNEL – Dense fog may have been a factor in a head-on crash just south of Quesnel early Thursday morning that claimed the lives of three people, including two Kelowna residents.

RCMP say a 48-year-old Kelowna man was driving a pick-up northbound on Highway 97 south of Sales Road at about 7 a.m. when he crossed the centre line and hit a southbound SUV head-on.

A 73-year-old woman from New Hazelton behind the wheel of the SUV, and her 70-year-old female passenger, were also pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The Kelowna man in the truck was also killed.

Investigators are looking for the cause of the crash but there is no evidence alcohol was involved.

RCMP say the weather was cool at the time of the crash, with very dense fog limiting visibility.
