56-year-old suspect in two Ottawa killings of women appears in court

OTTAWA – Police Chief Charles Bordeleau says a suspect in the slayings of two women has appeared in court charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

He says Marc Leduc, 56, was arrested in the deaths of Pamela Kosmack and Leanne Lawson.

Kosmack, 39, was found beaten to death on a bike path in June of 2008.

Lawson, who was 23, was found dead in a parking lot in September of 2011.

Bordeleau says DNA evidence played a role in the case, but would not reveal other details, saying the investigation continues.
