UPDATE: Head-on crash on Highway 1 claims two lives

KAMLOOPS – Two people have died following a head-on crash on Highway 1 near the New Gold Mine turnoff.

Today, Dec. 17, at 11:31 a.m. emergency services and police responded to a head-on collision on Highway 1, Staff Sgt. Edward Preto says in a media release.

Preto says two occupants in a car were found deceased at the scene. Two occupants in a pick up truck were taken to the hospital with injuries.

After the road was closed for several hours, Highway 1 is now reopened, according to DriveBC.
