SEATTLE – Prosecutors say the oldest two of three homeless teen brothers suspected in a deadly drug-related mass shooting at a Seattle homeless camp last week have been charged as adults.
King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg made the announcement Thursday, saying all three teens have been charged with first-degree murder and that only the youngest would face the allegations in juvenile court.
The shooting left two people dead and three wounded and has prompted calls to shut down the south Seattle homeless encampment, which authorities describe as lawless.
The suspects — ages 13, 16 and 17 — were arrested Monday in the shooting, which police say was part of a small-time drug robbery.
Police say the teens reportedly lived in tents near the camp where the slayings occurred on Jan. 26.
The Associated Press typically does not name minors accused of crimes.
