Race track speed nets driver $483 ticket

Highway 97 is not a race track, although some drivers seem to think so.

North Okanagan Traffic Services nabbed a driver early Saturday morning doing 164 km/h in the 90 km/h speed zone just north of Bailey Road.

Along with the $483 ticket, the driver lost his car for 7 days. It was towed to the RCMP impound.

That same morning, officers pulled over a woman for a sobriety test. It turns out she had a green 'N' on her car.

The Novice (or Class 7) driver provided a breath sample and she had alcohol in her body. She was given an immediate 24 hour drivers licence suspension and a ticket for driving with alcohol in her system.

Novice drivers aren't allowed to have any alcohol at all in their bodies.

"No alcohol in the body means no alcohol for Class 7 drivers," RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says. "Anyone who wants to take a chance and gets caught will get suspended."
