Answers sought after male bus driver poses as elderly woman

CRANSTON, R.I. – Some Rhode Island city councillors want to know more about a middle-age male senior centre van driver who posed as an elderly woman during a press conference.

WJAR-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1SxVl5N ) the council debated the fallout from the January stunt. The Cranston Senior Center’s van driver posed as a woman for an event about a snow shovelling program. Senior services director Sue Stenhouse resigned soon after.

Few details have been divulged since then. But some mostly Democratic council members want more answers from Republican Mayor Allan Fung.

Some mainly Republican council members say the case has been closed. Councilman Donald Blotts says it doesn’t make a difference whether the senior services director resigned on her own or the mayor asked for her resignation.

Republicans blocked a move to question the mayor’s staff behind closed doors.
