Lawrence Hill to teach creative writing at the University of Guelph

GUELPH, Ont. – Acclaimed author Lawrence Hill has been appointed a professor in the College of Arts at the University of Guelph.

“The Book of Negroes” author will teach creative writing beginning in July.

Hill is the jury chairman for this year’s Scotiabank Giller Prize.

In 2008, he won a Commonwealth Writers’ Prize and the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize for “The Book of Negroes,” which he adapted into a miniseries.

Hill has written a total of 10 books of fiction and non-fiction.

He’s now adapting his 2015 novel, “The Illegal,” into a miniseries.
