Georges St-Pierre gets standing ovation from Habs fans in advance of UFC 158
MONTREAL – UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre received a standing ovation Wednesday night as he dropped the ceremonial puck before the Canadiens-Senators game.
The 31-year-old from Montreal defends his mixed martial arts title Saturday against American Nick Diaz in the same arena at UFC 158.
St-Pierre moved his hands around his waist, to signify his championship belt, and then pointed to the ice, as if to say the title is staying here.
And then, as the noise grew, he put his fingers in his ears before motioning the fans to quiet down.
