ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – A missing persons investigation that began early Friday afternoon in Abbotsford, B.C., ended with the man’s body found in his home.
B.C.’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has confirmed that 32-year-old Sukhpreet Grewal (SOOK’-preet GREW’-all) of Abbotsford was found dead Friday evening.
The team says in a statement that the Abbotsford Police Department was called in early Friday afternoon by a family member who reported Grewal missing.
Once his death was confirmed as a homicide, IHIT took control of the case.
Cpl. Frank Jang of IHIT says in a release that investigators believe people who knew Grewal will be able to help them solve his murder.
IHIT says they believe Grewal’s slaying was a targeted attack, and that a forensic investigation in conjunction with the Abbotsford Police Department and the B.C. Coroners Service is underway.
Abbotsford is about an hour’s drive southeast of Vancouver, in B.C.’s Fraser Valley.
