Rockets roll Cougars 5-1

KELOWNA – The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Prince George Cougars 5-1 on Saturday night in Prince George.

The Rockets started strong again tonight getting a 2-0 lead through 20 minutes of play both courtesy of Nick Merkley.

Jesse Gabrielle of the Cougars made it 2-1, but their momentum was short lived as Reid Gardiner scored a minute and a half later to put the Rockets up by two once again. The score was 3-1 Kelowna at the end of two periods.

Kole Lind scored to make it 4-1. Then Reid Gardiner scored to give the Rockets a large four goal cushion. That would prove to be the final tally of the night, final score 5-1 Rockets.

Michael Herringer improves his record to 23-12-3-0 on the year.

The Rockets improve to 30-19-4-0 on the season thus far.

The Rockets collected back to back wins over the Western conference leading Prince George Cougars. The win moves the Rockets into third place in the B.C. division.

The R0ckets are back in action on Wednesday when they visit the Kamloops Blazers.

Kelowna plays at home on Friday February 10th when they host the Vancouver Giants.
