MONTREAL –
Bertrand Beaulieu scored three touchdowns as the Montreal Carabins defeated the Laval Rouge et Or 28-19 on Sunday to win the Dunsmore Cup as the top university football team in Quebec.
The Montreal running back rushed 19 times for 121 yards and a TD, and also caught four passes for 85 yards and another score.
Jonathan Senecal threw for 267 yards and two touchdowns for the Carabins, who advanced the Uteck Bowl on Nov. 27.
Arnaud Desjardins registered 279 yards, one TD and one interception through the air for Laval.
Montreal will now await the winner of Saskatchewan and Manitoba in next week’s Canada West final for its opponent in the Uteck Bowl — one of two national semifinals.
The 56th Vanier Cup will be played in Quebec City on Dec. 4.
