NEW YORK, N.Y. – The cast of the mega-hit Broadway show “Hamilton” will make a quick trip to the White House on Monday to perform songs from the show for the first family and answer questions from school children.
Lin-Manuel Miranda, the show’s writer and star, announced the invitation during his weekly video series Wednesday.
The musical tells the true story of Alexander Hamilton, the nation’s first treasury secretary. It is told by a young African-American and Latino cast and has a varied score that ranges from pop ballads to sexy R&B to rap battles.
The Obamas have been big boosters of the show. President Barack Obama took daughters Sasha and Malia to see it last year after first lady Michelle Obama caught it last spring.
