NEW YORK, N.Y. – The story of a fisherman who survived nearly 12 hours adrift in shark-filled waters, already optioned by The Weinstein Company for a feature film, will also be coming out as a book.
Weinstein Books told The Associated Press on Wednesday that “A Speck in the Sea,” by John Aldridge and Anthony Sosinski, is scheduled for the spring of 2017.
Aldridge was the subject of an intensive search in 2013 after he fell off his boat into the Atlantic Ocean, some 40 miles from the coast of Montauk, New York. He wasn’t wearing a life vest.
Sosinski, Aldridge’s longtime friend, was the first to realize Aldridge was missing and alerted authorities.
According to Weinstein Books, Aldridge and Sosinski will provide an “hour by hour, minute by minute” account of the ordeal.
