Great Bear Lake in the Northwest Territories and the Beaver Hills east of Edmonton have been added to UNESCO’s World Biosphere Reserve Network in 120 countries. It’s a recognition of a region’s successful balancing of environmental and economic concerns. Here’s a list of Canada’s other recognized biospheres:
