SICAMOUS – RCMP have laid charges after a man was thrown from the hood of a car and died Aug. 14.
Christina Laforge, 46, of Sicamous was arrested Aug. 15 on charges of criminal negligence causing death and impaired driving causing death. The man who died was Troy Charlton, 49, of Sicamous.
Police say Charlton and Laforge were attending the same social gathering that evening. Laforge drove away from the residence and witnesses reported seeing Charlton riding the hood of the vehicle as it drove down Main Street. The investigation revealed Charlton was thrown when the vehicle came to a sudden stop. He was rushed to Salmon Arm hospital but died of his injuries.
Laforge remained at the scene of the accident. Mounties confirmed alcohol was a factor in the accident.
