UPDATE: Kelowna Mounties investigate shooting, SUV riddled with bullet holes

KELOWNA – A man was released from hospital today after being treated for gunshot wounds.

Police say around 6 p.m. Monday Feb. 28, a man in his 20s appeared in the emergency room of Kelowna General Hospital seeking medical help while his bullet-riddled white Jeep SUV was parked in the drop off area. Global Okanagan reports six bullet holes in the vehicle.

Meanwhile police quickly moved to what officers think was the original location near Sexsmith Road and Pinto Road.

"The investigation is in its early stages," says RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey, in a release. "However, preliminary information suggests that this was not a random attack. Police do not believe that the public is in any risk."

O'Donaghey says the victim continues to recover from his injuries but has been released from the hospital.

The Kelowna RCMP General Investigation Section, RCMP Serious Crime Unit and the RCMP Integrated Forensic Identification Services are investigating.

RCMP are asking anyone who may have heard anything suspicious earlier this evening in the area of Sexsmith Road and Pinto Road, or may have any information at all, to contact the Kelowna RCMP GIS at 250-762-3300.
