Below-par Messi: Barcelona shouldn’t give up hope of turning around 4-0 deficit to Bayern

MADRID – Lionel Messi says Barcelona must not give up hope in the Champions League semifinals after being overwhelmed 4-0 at Bayern Munich in the first leg.

Messi says the return leg at the Camp Nou next week will be “a very tough match” given the seemingly insurmountable four-goal difference, but “you have to go for it and try to achieve it. They are very good, but we will try it.”

Nobody was less impressive than Messi, who didn’t fire a shot at goal. He was in doubt until hours before the match, when he was medically cleared to play following a hamstring injury.
