Rapper 2 Chainz cleared on Md. drug charge stemming from traffic stop on way to college show
EASTON, Md. – Rapper 2 Chainz has been acquitted of drug charges he faced after a traffic stop on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
The Star Democrat of Easton, Md., reports (http://bit.ly/11TIU4F ) that a Talbot County district court judge found the rapper, whose real name is Tauheed Epps, not guilty Wednesday.
The Atlanta-based rapper was headed to a college homecoming event in February when state troopers stopped the van he was travelling in. Police said they searched the car after smelling burnt marijuana and found a marijuana grinder and marijuana inside a backpack.
2 Chainz was cited for having drug paraphernalia and marijuana after police said he claimed the bag. A security guard testified that in the rush to leave the group’s Baltimore hotel room he had packed the grinder, though he didn’t know who owned it.
