TORONTO – Steven Soderbergh’s Liberace tale “Behind the Candelabra” is heading to the Inside Out film festival.
Organizers say the feature will be a special presentation at the annual movie showcase, which aims to screen the best and most diverse films by, for and of interest to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities
“Behind the Candelabra” stars Michael Douglas as the flamboyant pianist and Matt Damon as his younger live-in lover Scott Thorson. It traces their tumultuous relationship from their first meeting backstage at the Las Vegas Hilton to their bitter and public breakup.
The film will also air on HBO Canada on May 26
Other films headed to the LGBT fest include Kyle Patrick Alvarez’s “C.O.G.,” which is the first film adaptation of a David Sedaris work; Yen Tan’s award-winning “Pit Stop;” and Pratibha Parmar’s documentary “Alice Walker: Beauty in Truth,” which will close the gala.
The Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film Festival runs May 23 to June 2.
