The Latest: Church member arraigned in fatal shooting

NORRISTOWN, Pa. – The Latest on a church member charged with fatally shooting another worshipper in suburban Philadelphia (all times local):

___

6:10 p.m.

A member of a suburban Philadelphia church has been ordered held in the shooting death of another churchgoer in an altercation during Sunday services.

Mark Storms is charged with voluntary manslaughter in the shooting at Keystone Fellowship Church in North Wales, Pennsylvania.

He was arraigned Thursday afternoon and remains in custody on $250,000 bail. He does not yet have a lawyer.

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele says the victim, 27-year-old Robert Braxton, became disruptive during services before church members calmed him down. He says the 46-year-old Storms showed a badge and gun and asked Braxton to leave. He says Braxton punched Storms, who then fired two shots.

Steele says “it doesn’t make sense to bring a gun to church.”

He says more than 50 witnesses were interviewed before charges were brought.
