THOMPSON-OKANAGAN – A severe thunderstorm warning is in progress for the Okanagan Valley.
Kamloops, Vernon, South Thompson, Nicola and Shuswap are all included in the warning area. The threat with this system is strong winds, hail, and local heavy downpours.
Environment Canada first issued the warning at 2:15 and say the strong wind gusts and hail are capable of damaging property and causing injuries while local downpours can cause flash floods.
Avoid driving through water on roads. Even shallow fast moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away.
