Investigation leads to possession charges against West Kelowna man

WEST KELOWNA – A West Kelowna man will face charges after police seized a significant quantity of drugs from his vehicle on the Coquihalla Connector last week.

An investigation into allegations against Neil Collins who is currently behind bars brought about information that led to a Kelowna RCMP special enforcement team and West Kelowna RCMP joining forces. They conducted a traffic stop Aug. 28., pulling over a vehicle they believed was transporting illicit drugs intended for the Okanagan. 

The vehicle was stopped on Hwy 97 south, just as it exited the Coquihalla Connector. The two people inside were arrested and the vehicle searched resulting in a seizure of more than 8.5 ounces of cocaine and one ounce of heroin.

Peter Collins, 62, was charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. A 34-year-old West Kelowna man may also face the same charges. Both have been released to appear in court at a later date.
