Police investigating Penticton storage container break-in find stolen vehicle nearby

PENTICTON – Penticton RCMP continue to investigate the theft of a vehicle and its connection to a man found breaking into a storage container last weekend.

Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says a black 2006 Acura CSX was reported stolen on Saturday, June 3 from a home on Tennis Street at 1:35 p.m. after the owners believed they dropped their keys on the driveway. Police spotted the vehicle later the same day driving southbound on Highway 97, entering Penticton but were unable to stop it and did not give chase.

On Sunday, June 4, police received a report of a storage container being broken into on Carmi Avenue.

Wrigglesworth says police attending found a man at the scene with the stolen Acura nearby. The suspect was arrested for possession of stolen property as well as for having an outstanding warrant for failure to comply with a probation order.

A 35-year-old man was released on a promise to appear, while police continue to investigate.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
