UPDATE: Westside Road wildfire now 2.5 hectares

WEST KELOWNA – Fire crews are battling a grass fire north of West Kelowna along Westside Road today.

Firefighters were called to a blaze off Westside Road in Traders Cove above Okanagan Lake around 12:30 p.m., June 13.

B.C. Wildfire the fire at the base of Blue Grouse Mountain has grown to 2.5 hectares and is burning up a hill away from Westside Road.

Along with West Kelowna firefighters, a Wildfire initial attack crew is on the ground while a helicopter dumps water of the flames. An air tanker is also being used and spotter aircraft have been circling since around 1 p.m.

RCMP are also on the scene directing traffic.

No word if any structures are threatened.
