Whitecaps sign former Danish Superliga star goalkeeper David Ousted

VANCOUVER – The Vancouver Whitecaps have signed veteran Danish goalkeeper David Ousted.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Pending receipt of his international transfer certificate, Ousted will be eligible to play in Major League Soccer on July 9.

Ousted played 10 seasons in Denmark, including four campaigns in the top-flight Superliga. He earned earned 35 clean sheets in 103 matches for Randers FC over three seasons while helping the club finish third in the 2012-13 Danish Superliga and qualify for the UEFA Europa League.

He also made six appearances in the 2010-11 UEFA Europa League with Randers.

A native of Roskilde, Denmark, Ousted made 39 total appearances in 2012-13, earning 14 clean sheets.

His arrival raises questions about Brad Knighton’s status as Vancouver’s starting goalkeeper.
