SOUTH OKANAGAN – A fruit picker who died following an accident last week has been identified as Gabriel Gendreau-Martineau.
Gendreau-Martineau, 23, of St. Agathe, QC, spent his summer working on a farm in Osoyoos. While he had concluded his work there, he tented on the property until he planned to leave on Sept. 26.
On the morning of Sept. 26, Gendreau-Martineau was found dead at the base of a six-metre high pile of stacked fruit cases. Preliminary investigations suggest he was climbing the stack in the early morning hours when the top crate came lose and he fell, landing in the parking lot below.
RCMP and B.C. Coroners Service continue to investigate the death.
