Pilot dies in ultralight plane crash in Enderby

ENDERBY – A 71-year-old Salmon Arm man was killed in an ultralight plane crash in the North Okanagan last night.

RCMP say the received reports about a crashed ultralight aircraft around 6:20 p.m. yesterday, June 29, in Enderby on Deep Creek Road.

When officers got to the scene of the crash they found the body of a 71-year-old Salmon Arm man, according to an RCMP media release.

"The area was searched and no other occupants of the two-seater aircraft were found," Staff Sgt. Annie Linteau says in the release. "Witness statements suggest a power failure of the aircraft."

The Transportation Safety Board has been contacted.

Linteaus says they believe the pilot was heading to Salmon Arm.

The B.C. Coroners Service will assist the RCMP with the investigation.

The victim's identity hasn't been release.
