Police toss stun grenade in Kamloops raid on alleged drug house

KAMLOOPS – The Emergency Response Team tossed a stun grenade into the downtown Kamloops apartment before the heavily armed squad went in Friday night.

Smoke from what the police call a “distraction device” set off the smoke detector in the home at 352 Seymour St. No one was hurt.

There were 7 people inside, 4 men and 3 women. All but one of the women were questioned and released.

The suspect was arrested but no word on what charges she faces.

The RCMP isn’t saying if officers from the Special Projects Unit found any drugs during their search of what it says is a drug house.

We won’t be able to tell you any more about the raid until Monday at the earliest.

“Please note that there will be no additional information provided regarding this investigation until Monday, Sept. 9,” Staff Sgt. Grant Learned says in an email.

“It is anticipated that Cpl. Cheryl Bush, detachment Media Communications Officer, will be holding a news briefing on Monday afternoon at a time to be determined later.”
