Kelowna Rockets down Giants in exhibition play

KELOWNA – The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Vancouver Giants 6-1 on Saturday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, closing out the WHL preseason with a 3-and-1 record.

The Giants opened the scoring less than a minute into the game but Kelowna roared back with six straight markers to earn the win.

Tyson Baillie and Rourke Chartier each had a goal and two assists to lead the Rockets offense as Kelowna outshot the Giants 37-25.

Henrik Nyberg, Austin Glover, Riley Stadel and Justin Kirkland also scored for the Rockets while Zach Franko had a pair of assists.

Jackson Whistle earned the win in the Rockets' net.

The Rockets close the WHL preseason with a 3-1 record and will now prepare for the opening of the regular season on Sept. 20.

Kelowna and Kamloops open the season with a home and home series, playing in Kamloops Sept. 20 before the Rockets home opener Sept. 21.
