FARNHAM, Que. – The company involved in the Lac-Megantic disaster experienced another derailment today — although this one was minor.
A Montreal, Maine & Atlantic cargo train carrying soy experienced the derailment in Farnham, Que., between Montreal and Lac-Megantic.
Authorities say one wheel went off the rail, and the incident did not occur on the main track.
The Transportation Safety Board says it was not called to the scene to inspect the incident.
The TSB says there were no injuries, no damage, and no crossing blocked.
The federal agency notes that there were about three rail incidents per day in Canada last year, which is down from the 2007-2011 period.
Only one of the 2012 incidents resulted in a fatality.
