OTTAWA – Statistics Canada reports that Canada’s police-reported crime rate was at its lowest level last year since 1972.

Here is a list of crime rates for the country’s census metropolitan areas, from highest rate to lowest, per 100,000 population, with percentage change from 2011 in brackets. The figures for the metropolitan areas are preceded by the national rate.
