Four-foot ball python on the loose in North Vancouver, B.C.
NORTH VANCOUVER, B.C. – The RCMP say a python has slithered its way out of a North Vancouver, B.C., home and is on the loose in the area.
Cpl. Doug Trousdell says the 1.2-metre-long python has been missing for several days.
Trousdell says conservation officers have taken over the search, after an unsuccessful search by RCMP and animal control officers.
He says the snake isn’t considered dangerous, but recent events have raised people fears about snakes roaming free.
Concern over exotic pets is reverberating across Canada this week, after two young boys were asphyxiated by a snake on Monday while sleeping in an apartment in Campbellton, N.B.
The illegally-owned African rock python that killed the brothers had escaped from its enclosure, making its way into the room where the boys were sleeping. (News 1130)
