West Kelowna completes waterfront upgrades, adding lookouts and cycling lanes
WEST KELOWNA, B.C. – A $3.15-million project to upgrade West Kelowna’s waterfront infrastructure has been completed, benefiting motorists, cyclists and pedestrians, officials say.
The work in the Gellatly Bay area included improvements to a trail alongside Okanagan Lake as well as the addition of cycling lanes and pedestrian lookouts. Seventy trees were also planted.
The upgrades make the area “even more beautiful and accessible for both locals and visitors,” said Premier Christy Clark, who represents the riding of Westside-Kelowna.
Funding for the work came from the federal and municipal governments plus local developer contributions.
