TORONTO – Canadian detective drama “Cardinal” has been renewed for two additional six-episode seasons.
Season 2 of the show, which is adapted from Giles Blunt’s award-winning “John Cardinal Mysteries” books, will be filmed this summer in the northern Ontario cities of Sudbury and North Bay.
The second season will be inspired by the third novel in Blunt’s series, “Black Fly Season.”
The show’s third season is slated to begin filming this fall and will be inspired by the fourth and fifth titles in the book series: “By the Time You Read This” and “Crime Machine.”
The dramatic crime thriller stars American actor Billy Campbell as Det. John Cardinal opposite Drummondville, Que., native Karine Vanasse as his partner, Det. Lise Delorme.
Season 1 of “Cardinal” has been licensed to BBC in the U.K., and broadcasters in Scandinavia and Spain.
