Kelowna Chiefs take home opener

Kelowna – Rutland’s very own Kelowna Chiefs doubled up the Osoyoos Coyotes in their home opener.

The Chiefs defeated the Coyotes 4 – 2 at Rutland Arena.

Colton Dachwitz (1G) opened up scoring for the Chiefs on a power play in the first period and the momentum skyrocketed from there.

The Coyotes may have tied it up by the end of the first period but Jagger Bowles (3G) was unstoppable, earning a hat-trick in the opener.

Bowles would net two goals in the second and go on to secure the win in the third period.

Nick Josephs added three assists while Brady Mende had two.

Goaltender Connor DeMelo was rock solid between the pipes in his first regular season game with the Chiefs.

Up next for the Kelowna Chiefs, an away game in Revelstoke on Friday September 20th before returning home for a rematch against the Princeton Posse on Saturday September 21st.
