Overturned semi impacts traffic north of Merritt

KAMLOOPS – If you have plans to drive the Old Merritt Highway this morning you will want to keep a close eye on the Drive B.C. website following an early morning crash.

Highway 5A was closed 27 km north of Merritt after a semi overturned and caught fire near Quilchena.

No word on the cause of the crash or if there are any injuries, but the road was closed most of the morning, but has since reopened to single lane, alternating traffic, according to Drive B.C.

Highway 5 at the Nicola Interchange was also closed this morning following a second overturned semi, but that crash site has been cleared and the road reopened.

For the latest information go to the Drive B.C. website.
