WINNIPEG – Justin Goltz has been given the nod as starting quarterback Sunday when the Winnipeg Blue Bombers face the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Regina.
Buck Pierce is out with an unspecified injury and coach Tim Burke says Goltz took most of the snaps this week and Max Hall’s injured hand still isn’t 100 per cent.
Burke says he hopes Hall will be back to normal by Sunday in case he has to take over.
Goltz says with a new offensive co-ordinator and a new offence to learn, he hasn’t had a lot of time to worry about the atmosphere in Regina.
But he expects both the fans and the team to be on his case.
Goltz says new offensive coach Marcel Bellefeuille has helped simplify his playbook so the Winnipeg offence can pick things up quickly.
