Thieves crash gate with SUV

LAKE COUNTRY – Police believe thieves smashed an SUV through a compound gate to get away with a coveted UTV.

Police were called to the 9500 block of Jim Bailey Road at about 4:45 a.m. Sept. 16. to investigate a damaged gate. When they arrived, they found several vehicles were damaged during the theft that happened sometime between 3 and 4:45 a.m. It appears suspects entered the secure compound shared by SRI Homes and Lafrentz Road Marketing, breaking into the building for both companies Const. Kris Clark says. A large number of vehicles were damaged and items stolen, including a Ford Edge SUV and a utility terrain vehicle.

"The Ford Edge was located abandoned nearby with significant front end damage and a stolen TV inside," Clark says. "The Ford appeared to have been used to smash through the gate to the compound."

The UTV wasn't recovered. It's described as a white, 2010 Polaris Ranger RZR side-by-side with added gun racks and stereo.
