Suspect charged with murder in fatal Surrey shooting deemed random: RCMP

SURREY, B.C. – RCMP say charges have been laid after a fatal shooting in Surrey, B.C., early on the morning of April 7.

The Mounties say Robert Tomljenovic, who is 26, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 21-year-old Pritpal Singh.

The prosecution service has also charged Tomljenovic with robbery with a firearm.

Police say initial information suggested the shooting was targeted, but investigators later determined the two men did not know each other

The RCMP say they believe the shooting was random.

Tomljenovic is to make his next court appearance on Friday.
