City of Penticton parted ways with seven staffers in late 2017

PENTICTON – The City of Penticton parted ways with a number of staff in the final months of 2017.

City of Penticton Human Resources Manager Kerri Lockwood confirmed yesterday, Jan. 11, the city lost a total of seven senior staffers since October, 2017.

Those positions included Recreation Manager Lori Mullen, Parks Manager Jeff Lynka, Budget Analyst Deb Clipperton, Corporate Service Manager Stephanie Chambers, Safety Coordinator Glen Robertson, Economic Development Events Coordinator Chad Douglas, and Human Resources Coordinator Jenna Norman.

The city also recently hired Phillip Cooper as its Communications Officer to replace Mark Parker, who left the position earlier in 2017.

The city has seen the departure of nine other staffers since February, 2015, including former CAOs Annette Antoniuk, Chuck Loewen and Eric Sorensen, Communications Officers Tina Lee and Simone Blais, Development Services Manager Jules Hall, and Human Resources manager Gillian Kenny.

Development Service Director Anthony Haddad left the city’s employ but has since returned, while former Chief Financial Officer Colin Fisher retired.

Lockwood said in an email all were valued employees of the City of Penticton who left for a variety of reasons.

She was unable to elaborate as that information is protected under privacy laws.

“The city has no concern with staff turnover. It is normal and healthy for employers to have turnover, and the rate we experienced in 2017 was in line with expectations,” she wrote.
