Ex-Congressman Patrick Kennedy, wife take baby daughter home from hospital

POMONA, N.J. – Former congressman Patrick Kennedy and his wife have left a hospital with their newborn daughter a day before the 50th anniversary of the assassination of his uncle.

Nora Kara Kennedy weighed 6 pounds and 11 ounces and measured 18 1/4 inches long when she was born at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Pomona, New Jersey, on Tuesday.

Patrick Kennedy is the son of the late Massachusetts U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy and nephew of former President John F. Kennedy. He has said it’s a bittersweet time as the family celebrates the birth while remembering his uncle’s 1963 assassination in Dallas.

Patrick and Amy Kennedy were married in 2011 and live in Absecon, New Jersey. They have an 18-month-old son. Amy Kennedy also has a 5-year-old daughter from a previous marriage.
