As child, US school gunman wrote about a mother shot in the head, violence against children

HARTFORD, Conn. – Documents show the gunman in last year’s U.S. school shooting wrote a violent book as a child that included passages in which a character shoots his mother in the head.

The homemade manuscript is titled “The Big Book of Granny” and was among items seized from Adam Lanza’s home. The documents were part of a report released Monday.

Lanza killed 20 young children and six educators with a rifle at the Connecticut school in December. He fatally shot his mother in the head before driving to the school.

The documents say the main character in Lanza’s book has a gun in her cane and shoots people. There’s nothing to indicate Lanza ever handed the book in at school.

Another character likes hurting people, especially children.
